The Beyerdynamic DT770 80 ohms
If my other headphones would be sitting in a pristine, acoustically treated concert hall, the DT 770 is like standing in the front row of a warehouse rave right next to the subwoofer.
They are my absolute daily drivers, and I love them because they are completely unapologetic about what they do.
The Private Bunker Unlike the HD 650s, which are "open-back" and let all the outside noise in, the DT 770s are closed-back.
When I put these on, the physical world disappears.
It’s an instant isolation chamber.
They are built like absolute tanks - altough they have a weakness those little plastic sliders - big, clunky, and perfectly comfortable and they let me completely lock into whatever I'm doing.
The Physicality of Sound But the real reason these are glued to my head is the 80-ohm driver or ''speaker'' inside them.
Audiophiles love to talk about "neutrality" and polite, perfectly balanced sound. But sometimes, I don't want polite.
I want fun.
Unlike Most headphones that turn fast, heavy electronic bass into a muddy, vibrating mess that swallows the rest of the song.
Not the DT 770s.
They have legendary sub-bass. When a kick drum hits, you don’t just hear it; you feel the air pressure punch against the side of your head. It has this incredible, visceral weight to it, but the engineering is so good that it never bleeds into the vocals. The bass slams, but the voices stay razor-sharp and crystal clear.
They aren't trying to be something they aren't - they are used by many people as the ''go to'' way to listen music, podcasts or even production.
